A manufacturing company is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Machine/Parallel Operator to join their Coiling Department. This position is responsible for operating various machines within the production cell, assisting with machine setup, inspecting parts for quality, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
Machine Operator I Responsibilities- Operate various machines within the production cell.
- Assist with machine pre-setup, including pulling raw material wire from inventory, staging wire on the machine, and preparing it for setup.
- Assist with post-setup breakdown, including rewrapping, tagging, and returning raw material wire to inventory.
- Coordinate and process heat treatment of springs in ovens according to work orders.
- Respond to work order requests in a timely manner.
- Make minor machine adjustments and notify the Lead or Setup person when additional adjustments are needed.
- Inspect work in progress using the required measuring equipment and work instructions.
- Use measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges to maintain close tolerances.
- Perform preventative maintenance, including lubricating machines as needed.
- Perform minor repairs and notify Maintenance of additional repair needs.
- Operate forklifts and other powered industrial equipment as needed.
- Maintain clean and organized machines and work areas.
- Follow production schedules, procedures, and safety requirements.
- Ensure safety guards are in place and in good condition.
- Work collaboratively with other operators and departments.
- Assist with counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, and transferring parts as needed.
- Adapt to cross-training and working within a team environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous manufacturing or machine operating experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specification sheets, and/or mechanical drawings, or willingness to learn.
- Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and height gauges.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to safely use hand tools such as screwdrivers and wrenches.
- Ability to read and write and perform basic arithmetic.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Forklift experience preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to cross-training.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to reach, push, pull, lift, and handle materials.
- Frequently lift, move, push, or pull up to 20 lbs.
- Occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to safely perform tasks requiring close, distance, peripheral, and depth vision.
