CNC Operator (Computer Numerical Control Operator)

Responsibilities- Load parts and cycle machine; detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Set up and operate CNC machines to perform cutting, drilling, milling and related functions.
- Read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches and technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, machining methods and sequences.
- Mount, align and secure tooling, attachments and workpiece on machine using overhead crane.
- Assemble cutting tools in tool holders and position tool holders in machine spindles or insert cutting tools in specified machine magazines.
- Set up, interpret and verify correctness of CNC program used on machine.
- Start machine and monitor displays and machine operation to detect malfunctions.
- Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
- Measure workpiece for conformance to specifications.
- Enter commands or manually adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machine.
- Operate machine manually to perform functions when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
- Perform limited machine maintenance while maintaining a clean work area per 5S standards.
- Maintain regular attendance, arrive punctually, work on‑site and work overtime as required.
- Perform multiple tasks concurrently, work in a fast‑paced environment and interact with others in the department.
- Discuss control media errors with supervisor or programming personnel to resolve problems.
- Result‑driven approach with keen eye for detail.
- Average written and oral communication skills.
- Clear and effective communication essential.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
- Read a tape measure.
- Adhere to attendance and be reliable.
