SUMMARY:
The Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in an industrial setting. This role requires a strong understanding of electrical systems, adherence to safety protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program or formal training in electrical systems is required. Relevant certifications (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician) are a plus.
- Knowledge of electrical code
- Knowledge of using hand tools (screwdrivers, pliers, wire strippers, and wrenches) and an electrical meter for primarily voltage, current, and resistance analysis.
- Knowledge of reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Ability to troubleshoot control systems for diagnosis of failure(s) and then conducting repairs, all in a timely manner.
- Knowledge of motor controls and motion controls, both AC and DC
- Ability to suggest, devise, and execute upgrades or improvements to existing systems for the benefit of the company (including safety, functionality, and efficiency)
- Knowledge of Microsoft office products, especially Word and Excel.
- Ability and willingness to communicate effectively through conversation and.
- Ability to summarize potentially complicated information into cohesive, effective reports for management.
- Willingness to work overtime and weekends, as needed
- Willingness to perform tasks outside of the job description, as needed.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Install, upgrade, and maintain electrical systems, machinery, and systems in industrial facilities, ensuring compliance with all electrical codes and safety regulations.
- Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, including wiring, circuit boards, motors, and control panels.
- Diagnose electrical problems, identify faulty components, and implement corrective measures promptly to minimize downtime in production or operations.
- Conduct tests on electrical systems, including voltage, current, resistance, and continuity, using appropriate diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Calibrate and adjust electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance, and replace defective parts as needed.
- Follow all safety standards and regulations related to electrical work, ensuring proper use of protective gear and adherence to safety procedures
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals to understand system layouts and ensure accurate installation and maintenance.
- Work closely with maintenance teams, engineers, and other departments to resolve complex electrical issues and improve system functionality.
- Maintain detailed records of electrical repairs, upgrades, and maintenance activities, including testing results and parts used.
- Provide quick response to electrical emergencies, working to resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime and disruption to operations.
- Report any and all line failures and issues, with realistic expectations and goals to management, for effective decision-making and prioritizing.
- Work after-hours and on weekends, as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- May require shift work or overtime, including weekends or holidays, depending on the facility's operational needs.
- Work environment may include exposure to high voltage, hazardous materials, noisy machinery, or outdoor environments.
