DescriptionLead seasonal crews within Custer State Park to perform resource management activities. Assist with resource management activities such as controlling noxious weeds, fixing fence, taking fuel moistures, thinning projects, and running skid steers. Noxious weeds will be controlled by chemical, biological, cultural, and mechanical means according to Integrated Weed Control Plan. Use of UTV and ATV sprayers as well as backpack sprayers will be used for chemical control.
Use of hand-held GPS units to map weed infestations and bio-control sites. Assist in collection of rangeland data.
- Selected applicants should be able to carry 25 lbs for extended periods of time.
- Experience or knowledge of range management practices and plant identification skills are preferred.
- Weed applicator certification will be required but may be obtained after beginning of employment.
- Preferred candidates will be open to acquiring wildland fire and chainsaw certifications.
- Ability to work independently, manage time well, and work in a variety of weather conditions outdoors.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver license.
Seasonal housing is available.
