About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Petroleum Engineer to join their dynamic team in Pietermaritzburg . This role is crucial for optimizing oil and gas recovery from existing and new reservoirs. You will work closely with geologists, geophysicists, and production engineers to develop and implement effective reservoir management strategies. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of reservoir characterization, simulation, and performance monitoring, contributing significantly to maximizing asset value and operational efficiency within our South African operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive reservoir characterization studies using geological and geophysical data.
  • Develop and execute reservoir simulation models to predict future performance and optimize recovery strategies.
  • Analyze production data, identify decline trends, and recommend appropriate workover and stimulation programs.
  • Evaluate the economic viability of new development projects and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques.
  • Collaborate with drilling and production teams to ensure optimal well placement and completion designs.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reservoir engineering , simulation, and data analysis.
  • Proficiency with reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, CMG) and data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of reservoir physics, fluid flow, and rock mechanics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in the Oil & Gas industry is essential.
