Process Engineer - Chemical Manufacturing

Our client is seeking an accomplished Process Engineer to join their dynamic chemical manufacturing facility in Pietermaritzburg . This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and quality of our production processes. You will be responsible for optimizing existing operations, developing new process designs, and troubleshooting complex technical challenges. • Analyze and optimize chemical processes to improve yield, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
• Design, develop, and implement new process equipment and control strategies, ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Conduct process simulations and pilot studies to validate new designs and operational changes.
• Troubleshoot process deviations, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure seamless integration of process improvements.
• Develop and maintain detailed process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and batch records.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a process engineering role within the chemical manufacturing industry.
• Proven experience with process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Strong understanding of process control systems and instrumentation.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with HAZOP studies and process safety management (PSM).
