Job Description & SummaryAt PwC, our audit and assurance teams focus on providing independent and objective assessments of financial statements, internal controls, and other assurable information. We enhance the credibility and reliability of this information for a variety of stakeholders by evaluating compliance with regulations, assessing governance and risk management processes, and related controls. In financial statement audit, you will focus on obtaining reasonable assurance that the financial statements are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or error, and issue an auditor’s report that includes the auditor’s opinion.

As a Senior Associate, you’ll work as part of a team of problem solvers with extensive accounting and industry experience, helping our clients solve their complex business issues from strategy to execution. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Qualifications / Certifications Required- Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience in a professional environment.
1–2 years related experience.
Responsibilities of Role- Proactively assist in managing several clients while reporting to Managers and above.
- Train and lead staff.
- Establish effective working relationships directly with clients.
- Contribute to the development of your own and the team’s technical acumen.
- Prepare monthly management accounts (to prepare VAT returns), final trial balances, financial statements, and tax computations for a portfolio of clients to meet client, SARS, and other deadlines.
- Manage time using an electronic time‑keeping system (time sheets).
- Monitor the costs on the client jobs assigned to you.
- Prepare cost analyses and bills upon completion of assignments.
- Keep up to date with local and national business and economic issues.
- Be actively involved in business development activities to identify and research opportunities on new/existing clients.
- Continue to develop internal relationships and your PwC brand.
Job Description
- Completion of VAT returns would be an advantage.
- Experience with Caseware would be an advantage.
- Experience with farmers and farming tax would be an advantage.
- An organized individual who is able to take responsibility for their portfolio with minimum supervision and multi‑task where necessary.
- Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
- Minimum 5 years bookkeeping experience in a professional environment.
- Must have worked with a portfolio of clients, having been responsible for client correspondence (speaking directly to clients to obtain information, etc.) as well as correspondence with third parties (e.g., banks).
- Able to gather all financial information required to prepare annual financial statements, draft year‑end journals, compile tax computations, and calculate tax liability for individuals, partnerships, close corporations, small companies, and trusts.
- Preparation of monthly management accounts on Pastel or Xero, including the ability to reconcile bank and VAT control accounts to VAT returns where necessary.
- Proficient at using Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Suite, Pastel, Xero, and Caseware.
- Be able to work in a high‑performance team.
