Diet Aide part time

The Diet Aide works in accordance with established policies, procedures, and specific instructions, the diet aide is responsible for courteous and efficient Health Center food service.

Minimum hiring age for this position is 18 years of age.

part-time non-exempt position. Every other Saturday and Sunday 11a-7:30pm and one or two evenings per week 3pm-7:30pm. Includes some holidays.

• Serves resident meals in the health center in accordance with individual therapeutic diets
• Ensures accurate record keeping and food tally procedures
• Sets up tables in the health center dining room and breaks down same after meal
• Maintains established standards of sanitation in kitchen and health center
• Transfers hot and cold foods to and from the health center
• Transports all required non-food items to and from the health center
• Maintains station equipment and work area in safe and sanitary condition

• Maintains good relationships with residents
• Maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code
• Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor or designee
• Observes all safety rules and regulations.
• HIPAA Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to ensure confidentiality of protected health information.
• OIG Compliance – follows written policies and procedures to comply with the federal and state laws and regulations.
• Interacts with residents and coworkers in a friendly and respectful manner.

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, and perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to understand measurements and conversions.
• Previous experience in nursing home food service preferred.
• Ability to plan and organize work, set-up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards.
• Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor and peers. Requires empathy for the elderly.
• Compliance with North Oaks Immunization requirement.
• Minimum hiring age is 18 for this position.

Works indoors; must be able to stand/walk for 100% of the workday. Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs. Must be able to push and pull tray/bus/transport carts weighing up to 50 lbs. Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and balance frequently throughout the workday. May be exposed to extreme temperatures from the ovens and freezers.

Must be able to see, hear, and speak. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals, communicable diseases including the HIV and Hepatitis B virus, and offensive odors.
