VEG ER for Pets is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join our 24/7, 365‑day emergency hospital in Pikesville, MD. The role involves triage, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care, providing compassionate support to pet owners in high‑pressure situations.

JobAs a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you’ll collaborate closely with physicians and staff to deliver gold‑standard, emotionally intelligent care. Responsibilities include triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, critical care nursing, emotional support, and CPR. You’ll also manage medications, med administration, and advanced procedures such as central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds, and blood transfusions.
Responsibilities- Provide compassionate care to patients and owners, staying by their side through tests and treatments.
- Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support during critical moments from triage to discharge.
- Administer medications, monitor patients, and perform procedures such as IVs, CRIs, blood transfusions, central lines, endoscopy, and ultrasounds.
- Communicate and collaborate with the team, shaping care plans and ensuring smooth workflow.
- Perform CPR and other emergency procedures as required.
- Maintain knowledge of advanced techniques and up‑to‑date equipment handling.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA‑accredited program strongly preferred.
- Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of operation. VTS in ECC, internal medicine or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus.
- 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician role; emergency or specialty medicine experience preferred.
- Basic computer skills and proficiency with practice management software and electronic medical records.
- Excellent communication, calm under pressure, and teamwork orientation.
- Fine motor skills for patient and equipment handling.
- Physical capability to stand for extended periods, kneel, and lift up to 25 kg independently (support up to 40 kg with assistance).
- Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as‑needed basis.
