Finance Director

The Finance Director oversees the finance and accounting functions of the Appalachian Wireless Arena, a premier concert and event venue. The Arena is a non-profit corporation. This position provides financial leadership and oversight of proper venue accounting which includes budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, cash management, internal controls, and compliance. The Finance Director works closely with executive leadership and department managers to monitor financial performance, support strategic decision-making, and ensure the venue operates efficiently and responsibly.

The Finance Director carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Arena’s policies and applicable laws.

• Manage and maintain internal controls and compliance in accounts payable, accounts receivable, and box office/ticketing. Maintain compliance for tax reporting purposes.
• Review and sign off bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, and other analyses as needed
• Create, maintain, and manage budgeting and forecasting including, but not limited to, operating budget, monthly forecasting, capital budget, and cash flow analysis
• Perform and manage show related activities such as settlements, accounting, and event reporting.
• Accounting for box office/ ticketing funds.
• Supervise the process of recording manual journal entries and oversee various finance related processes (fixed assets, payroll, etc.) to ensure accounting records are complete and accurate.
• Prepare financial statements, budget reports, and event flash reports in a timely and accurate manner.
• Work with outside auditors to complete the annual audit and issue audited financial statements.
• Prepare other financial reports and analyses as requested.
• Manage the facility's cash flow needs, investing idle funds while maintaining a minimum operating account balance to fund operations.
• Manage all payroll, accounts payable, & accounts receivable functions
• Some travel may be required.

This position requires supervisory duties of the finance department. These duties include establishing work priorities, assigning responsibilities, monitoring employee performance, providing coaching and corrective guidance, participating in disciplinary and personnel matters, and reviewing and approving financial work products.

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• At least five years of related work experience in developing and implementing financial systems and controls with non-profit experience preferred
• Proficient in handling all aspects of the accounting cycle and principles and techniques of venue operation.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience is accepted
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred

• High aptitude for figures; excellent math skills
