Position: SSS Extra Help Peer Tutor-8

Summary of Job Duties

The Extra-Help Peer Tutor is a part‑time professional staff member of the TRiO/Student Support Services Program. Tutors are responsible for clarifying and reinforcing course context, assignments, and materials. They assess, assist, and encourage students in the learning process, supplementing classroom teaching.

  • Assist students with improving their learning process.
  • Assist lab teachers with developing student skills.
  • Assist with teaching supplementary lessons.
  • Identify specific needs of each student.
  • Reinforce good study skill methods.
Qualifications

The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma. Enrolled as a student at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff with an overall GPA of 3.00 or higher. Earned at least a B+ or higher in the course(s) one will tutor. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
