Hourly Rate: $13.00 - $16.25

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports To: Store Manager

Summary

The Assistant Manager assists and consults the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties, ensuring store goals are met. The role requires deep knowledge of product areas, adherence to company policies, exceptional customer service, and supervisory control in the Manager’s absence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist the Store Manager in controlling store assets and overall operational performance.
  • Collaborate to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
  • Assume full responsibility for store operations when the Store Manager is absent.
  • Participate in personnel recruitment, training, and evaluation.
  • Provide product knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
  • Track inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure departmental profitability.
  • Direct staff to meet departmental responsibilities and standards.
  • Inform the Store Manager of inventory movement and customer trends.
  • Maintain quality customer service as outlined in the customer service manual.
  • Perform general administrative duties as needed and follow Store Manager protocols.
  • Promote and sell merchandise and services offered by Hibbett I City Gear.
  • Uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards across operational and personnel manuals.
  • Protect company assets and financial information through accurate internal control procedures, reporting potential fraud risks to management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager.
  • Conduct interviews, training, planning, assignment, and problem resolution in alignment with company policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
  • Experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear or athletic apparel.
  • 1–3 years of customer service experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Capability to assist in team management and meet overall goals and profits.
  • Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without direction.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask with precision.
  • Team‑player passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
