Harrison UMC is an active, healthy, and inviting congregation located in the rapidly growing area of Pineville/Ballantyne, NC (South Charlotte). We are looking for a Part-time Youth Minister who will work within our Family Ministries as the spiritual leader and advocate for youth in the church and the area. Primary responsibilities include the ability to build relationships with youth grades 6-12, lead Sunday youth program and mid-week Bible study, planning and implementing youth retreats and mission trips, and recruiting and developing volunteer leaders.
Must maintain office hours and be a team player with staff and congregation. By nature of the position, there will be occasional overnight travel and some nontraditional hours.
Applicants must have experience working with youth, and a min. 4-year college degree. Also, must be willing to submit information for a criminal background check and comply with all safety procedures for children and youth. Theological education and commitment to Wesleyan tradition are preferred. Ability to share your faith story, communicate effectively with parents and youth, and to use a multitude of social media and technology are essential.
