AE PLC and Robotics Instructor for Advanced Manufacturing Maintenance Program

Part-time Evening Instructor position needed. Applicants can teach just one or several courses in the areas of: PLC’s and Robotics. Each class is approximately 4-5 weeks in length, meeting 2 nights a week.

The instructor will provide instructional activities consistent with the program objectives and academic standards adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center and the State of Ohio. The instructor directs the learning experiences of students, including skill development, human relations, and leadership qualities needed for gainful employment, ensuring the best education possible for the students.

• Facilitates student learning activities that encourage teamwork, positive peer relationships and reinforce employability skills essential to today’s workforce.
• Develops lesson plans that engage adult student learning in both the classroom and laboratory settings.
• Monitors student progress using formal and informal assessment strategies.
• Coordinates with employers to provide real-world experiences and opportunities for students.
• Prepares students for industry credential assessments.
• Assists program coordinator with curriculum development, course scheduling and Program Advisory Committee meetings.

• 5 years’ work experience in the field of expertise OR Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Master’s Degree in field of expertise plus 3 years’ work experience in the industrial maintenance and machine repair profession with PLC experience.
• Prior teaching experience preferred.
• Experience with Control Logix 5000, Logix Pro, RS Logix and HMI software preferred; also experience with relay logic and VFD’s preferred. Candidates with Siemens PLC experience considered.
• Robotics experience in theory and application, FANUC & Yaskawa/Motoman experience a plus.
• Holds or is able to obtain a valid Ohio State Board of Education Adult Education Permit.
• Meets all mandated health screening requirements.
• Maintains a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school employment; able to pass a BCI/FBI background check.
• Maintains compliance with drug-free workplace rules, Board policies, and other applicable procedures/guidelines.

Appropriate placement on the Adult Education Intermittent/Hourly Salary Schedule. Compensation is $25.00 per hour, on an as-needed basis. Maximum 839 working hours in an academic year. One-year contract with opportunity for renewal.

State Teachers Retirement System and Worker’s Compensation offered. Upon hire, additional benefits may be offered depending on hours worked, job classification, and placement on the Upper Valley Career Center Salary Schedule. Some benefits are a shared cost between the employee and the Board of Education.

Job performance is evaluated according to policy provisions and contractual agreements adopted by the Upper Valley Career Center.
