Inventory Control Manager

Location:

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a dynamic and strategic Inventory Control Manager to drive best-in-class inventory operations across a nationwide service organization. This is a high-impact role with visibility across supply chain, operations, and field service teams—ideal for someone passionate about process improvement, operational strategy, and team leadership.

What You’ll Do

Inventory Optimization & Operations Leadership

  • Oversee all service parts inventory across the enterprise, including the main distribution center, branch offices, and technician trucks.
  • Lead inventory planning, scheduling, and forecasting for finished goods and service accessories.
  • Implement and manage Kanban-based replenishment systems for kits and parts, ensuring fast and accurate parts availability.
  • Monitor engineering and product changes to keep inventory systems and assembled kits up to date.
  • Build and manage inventory reporting tools (e.g., Branch Inventory Scorecards) to drive accountability and continuous improvement.

Training & Field Support

  • Act as a key liaison between the distribution center, field locations, and service trucks to create consistent inventory practices and visibility.
  • Provide training and coaching to branch managers and field teams on best practices in inventory management.
  • Support field teams by optimizing inventory levels at all locations—ensuring technicians have the right parts, right when they need them.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with supply chain, purchasing, engineering, and finance teams to develop and execute strategic inventory initiatives.
  • Collaborate on SKU rationalization, substitution strategies, and planning for new part introductions.
  • Contribute to financial planning related to inventory performance and work closely with stakeholders to implement changes smoothly.

Strategic Mindset & Accountability

  • Deliver data-driven insights on inventory performance including turn rates, working capital goals, and reserve needs.
  • Identify the root causes of inventory inefficiencies and lead cross-functional initiatives to address them.
  • Ensure all inventory policies and processes align with company standards and industry best practices.

Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the inventory management team, cultivating a culture of ownership, service, and innovation.
  • Guide team members through strategic projects and coach them on inventory systems and tools.
  • Educate field leadership and support staff on inventory control principles to build capability across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, finance, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a service parts or high-velocity distribution environment
  • Strong understanding of materials management, demand planning, and process optimization
  • Hands-on experience with ERP/inventory systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • APICS certification preferred (or willingness to pursue)

Travel: Up to 25% travel to field branches and service locations
