Massage Therapist - The Cliffs Hotel and Spa

The Spa at The Cliffs is continuously growing and expanding. We are seeking a gracious, thoughtful, and motivated part-time Massage Therapist who can work Saturdays and Sundays, and who can create a sense of luxury with their treatments. The Spa at The Cliffs is open daily, 9:00am-5:00pm. We look forward to connecting with you!

Position Summary

The Massage Therapist is responsible for creating a rejuvenating and luxurious environment in The Spa by performing massages on clients; with the goal of improving circulation, promoting relaxation, and relieving stress. In addition, the Massage Therapist must be well versed in appropriate draping, verbiage, and professionalism in the treatment room, guided by The Cliffs' Mission & Values. This position is also responsible for upholding California State Board Standards and overall cleanliness of treatment rooms and common areas.

Massage Therapist position works closely with Spa Attendants, Spa Reservationists, Spa Leads, and Spa Manager.

Essential Functions of the job
  • Greet and engage with all guests with a gracious, welcoming, warm attitude
  • Provide guests with a professional consultation prior to service, demonstrating a personalized sense of service for each guest
  • Perform professional 60, 75, and 90-minute massage treatments including relaxing Swedish style, therapeutic, deep pressure, prenatal, and lomi lomi massages. Additional treatments include hand/foot scrubs, hand/foot paraffins, scalp treatments, and body treatments
  • Ensure guests are properly and comfortably draped in a professional manner during treatment
  • Attend meetings and trainings to learn current spa and hotel information, and practice new techniques or treatments when necessary
  • Creatively resolve guest requests and issues quickly and discreetly
  • Maintain empathetic attitude to recover guests who have had a negative experience
  • Demonstrate genuine sense of interest and concern, and/or anticipatory service as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness in accordance to California State Board regulations in treatment room and common areas
  • Communicates articulately, pleasantly, and graciously with guests, management and co-workers
  • Comply fully and consistently with all the hotel conditions of employment and standards of uniform, grooming, and safety
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand continuously for the duration of the shift (4-8 hours)
  • Ability to perform 3+ massages back-to-back
  • Ability to repeat the same movements often
  • Ability to use muscles for extended periods without getting tired
  • Ability to use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
Education, Experience, Skills
  • Massage Therapist Certification
  • Must be Responsible Beverage Service trained, and ABC exam certified
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service
  • Ability to work weekends and holidays when necessary
  • Ability to be sales oriented and able to communicate information regarding product and services to guest
  • Maintain a friendly, outgoing attitude throughout all shifts
  • Must be able to communicate and work effectively with co-workers in all departments
  • Hospitality experience is preferred
  • Luxury Spa experience is preferred
