Job description:
Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for performing core accounting tasks including weekly payroll processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipt entry, collections, and general accounting support. This role plays an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring timely payments, and supporting the overall financial operations of the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll for all employees accurately and on time.
- Review timesheets, verify hours, and ensure proper coding.
- Review, code, and enter vendor invoices.
- Prepare weekly check runs and maintain vendor files.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
- Record cash receipts and apply payments to customer accounts.
- Monitor aging reports and follow up on overdue invoices.
- Communicate professionally with customers to resolve billing issues.
- Prepare daily or weekly bank deposits.
- Reconcile cash receipts and assist with bank reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end tasks such as reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
- Support the accounting team with various projects and administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 2+ years of accounting, payroll, or bookkeeping experience required.
- Experience with accounting software. Foundation software knowledge a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
