FINANCE MANAGER
Pittsburgh, PA (Southern Suburbs)
$95,000- $120,000

Our client, a well-established manufacturing organization serving domestic and international markets, is seeking a Finance Manager to support financial operations, reporting, and strategic business initiatives. This individual will work closely with the Finance Controller to oversee accounting activities, strengthen internal controls, manage cash flow reporting, and provide financial insights that support operational and business decisions.

The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting and financial reporting, experience in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to lead a small team while partnering with cross-functional departments. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys improving processes, analyzing business performance, and contributing to the overall success of an organization.

OVERVIEW OF THE FINANCE MANAGER ROLE:
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and financial statement preparation.
  • Maintain general ledger accuracy, reconcile intercompany transactions across domestic and international entities, and oversee fixed asset accounting, capitalization, and depreciation.
  • Oversee inventory and cost accounting, including standard labor and overhead rates, work-in-process (WIP), manufacturing variances, and annual physical inventory.
  • Prepare management reports, weekly business metrics, and financial analyses to monitor performance, identify trends, and support decision-making.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning while analyzing variances and communicating key findings to leadership.
  • Support project accounting, including revenue recognition, contract assets and liabilities, project budgets, and financial risk assessments.
  • Manage cash reconciliations and support cash flow forecasting, cash management initiatives, and credit and collections activities.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, internal accounting policies, financial reporting standards, and applicable Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit requests, support tax filings and regulatory reporting, and collaborate with corporate finance and tax teams.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, enhance reporting efficiency, and support ERP system initiatives.
  • Partner with finance, operations, and project teams to evaluate costs, assess financial risks, improve operational performance, and support business growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small finance team by establishing goals, providing mentorship, and promoting accountability and continuous improvement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE FINANCE MANAGER:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years of relevant accounting or finance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and U.S. GAAP.
  • Experience with month-end close, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliations.
  • Background in manufacturing accounting, including inventory, standard costing, and WIP accounting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, and complex formulas.
  • Experience working with ERP and financial reporting systems; exposure to SAP, Sage, Epicor, or Power BI is beneficial.
  • Prior experience in a publicly traded organization or a SOX-controlled environment is preferred.
  • Experience with international entities, multiple-company consolidations, or IFRS reporting is a plus.
  • Previous team leadership or mentoring experience is preferred.
