Accounts Payable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support financial operations for an engineering organization in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent position is ideal for someone who brings solid invoice processing experience, strong accuracy, and the flexibility to work in a hybrid setting after initial onsite training. The position plays a key role in keeping payment activity organized, compliant, and on schedule while assisting with month-end priorities and vendor-related matters.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices, confirm supporting details, and assign proper coding before entry into the payment process.

- Execute vendor payments through ACH transactions and check runs while maintaining complete and accurate documentation.

- Use SAP to manage day-to-day accounts payable activity, update records, and track transaction status.

- Partner with internal colleagues to help complete close-related tasks and meet month-end deadlines.

- Investigate invoice or payment discrepancies and take timely action to correct outstanding issues.

- Follow company financial controls and established procedures to ensure compliance across payable activities.

- Prepare organized records and supporting materials to assist with audit requests and reporting needs.

- Respond to vendor questions professionally and work to resolve payment concerns in a timely manner.

- Maintain strong performance across onsite and remote workdays as part of a hybrid work arrangement.

- Identify practical ways to streamline accounts payable workflows and improve process efficiency. Requirements - Hands-on experience in accounts payable, including invoice review, payment processing, and record maintenance.

- Working knowledge of account coding and the ability to assign expenses accurately.

- Experience processing invoices with careful attention to detail and data accuracy.

- Familiarity with ACH payments and check run procedures.

- Proficiency using SAP for accounts payable or related financial transactions.

- Ability to manage deadlines effectively, especially during month-end close periods.

- Strong communication skills for working with vendors and internal stakeholders.

- Commitment to following financial policies, internal controls, and documentation standards.
