POSITION SUMMARY:
The Administrative Assistant assists with department based administrative needs. This person should be dedicated to creating a positive and welcoming environment for all students, parents, staffand faculty who may need assistance. The length of the temporary assignment mayvary based on the assigned department's needs (i.e. one week to several weeksor months based on operational need).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manages the departments' response to calls, emails, visitors andmail.
Answers letters and general correspondence; working from roughdrafts, verbal instructions or established procedures.
Acts in a liaison capacity for the administrator and department.
Responds to and/or refers customer needs as appropriate.
Attends departmental meetings and University functions as required.
Assumes any additional duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the direct supervisor based on the area's needs.
REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Minimum of 1-3years of work- related experience.
Thorough working knowledge ofcalendaring via Outlook, all programs of the Microsoft Office suite (including
Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Zoom, as well as a willingness to learnnew software systems relevant to the position.
Preferred qualifications:
Associate'sdegree and/or prior experience in higher education support work is preferred.
Alternately, the successful candidate may possess any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to display aprofessional demeanor at all times.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to use sound judgment in making independent decisions.
