Plumber, 2nd Shift; Local Union

Position: Plumber, 2nd Shift (Local 95 Union)
This position will work under the Local 95 Union

Shift: Monday-Friday 3:00pm - 11:00pm (2nd shift) with some travel to Cranberry, Passavant

Install, maintain, and repair gas, air, water, sewer, vacuum, medical gas, and fire suppression systems in the hospital.

Responsibilities:

+ Perform all work following infection control procedures.

+ Prepare pipe for installation such as cutting, threading, removing burrs, grooving and bending.

+ Record work orders and submit hours to supervisor on a daily basis.

+ Estimate costs of installations and repair work, including requisition of material, as needed.

+ Fit valves, couplings and other plumbing devices by screwing, bolting or soldering and seal connections with joint compounds, gaskets or caulking by using appropriate tools.

+ Inspect systems for pressure loss and leaks.

+ Install, repair and maintain various types of pipe assemblies, plumbing fixtures and piping systems from blueprints and sketches, including but not limited to chilled water, heating hot water and medical gas.

+ Investigate and perform system outages.

+ Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop areas.

+ Mark, cut and bend pipe to meet specifications by using hacksaw, pipe cutter or cutting machine.

+ High school diploma or GED required.

+ Completion of five-year apprenticeship, which includes blueprint reading, mechanical drawing, mathematics, and plumbing and minimum of three years work experience.

+ Knowledge of State and Local plumbing codes and ordinances is required.
