Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education

Built on 180 acres of meadows, orchards, wetlands, and forest only minutes away from downtown Pittsfield, Berkshire Community College reflects the natural and cultural diversity and richness of the Berkshires. Job Description

Berkshire Community College invites applicants with a demonstrated commitment to student-centered, outcomes-based education to apply for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Early Childhood Education. Faculty typically teach 15 credit hours per semester. Duties include the development and preparation of course and assessment materials, including on-line instruction; classroom (day and/or evening assignments) and field work instruction; assisting with student recruitment; participating in college service, professional development, and student advisement activities.

Supported by the EEC Career Pathways Grant, the Early Childhood Education Program at BCC will look for a collaborative colleague who is committed to the field of early education and to providing access to students who wish to work and advance in the field.

Requirements
  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or closely related field required.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Work experience in early childhood education.
  • Familiarity with state licensing for both Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education.
  • Commitment to student-centered, outcomes-based education with experience incorporating multiple means of engagement.
  • Experience using technology in teaching online and hybrid learning environments.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission, outreach, and service.
  • Availability to teach up to two evening courses per week either in-person or virtual.
Preferred Requirements
  • Community college teaching experience.
  • Early education teaching experience.
