CHP outreach provides free health screenings, insurance enrollment assistance as well as information so people can learn how to take better care of themselves and their families.

Set Salary: $28.00 / hour.

Schedule:

20 hours/week. The Recovery Coach position is contingent upon grant funds; employment will depend on the successful acquisition and continuation of the behavioral health grant. The Recovery Coach is part of a multidisciplinary team including an addiction medicine/internal medicine physician, addiction psychologist, and crisis interventionist. This position is designed to expand access to peer-based recovery support services for individuals with substance and alcohol use disorders.

This is a non-clinical, peer-led role offering support grounded in lived experience, trust-building, and recovery-focused guidance. Coaches will work under and report to the Crisis Interventionist, serving individuals in Pittsfield and Adams, Massachusetts as part of the broader Recovery Team.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver peer-based, non-clinical support to individuals at various stages of recovery from substance and alcohol use.
  • Build trusting, empathetic relationships based on shared lived experience.
  • Collaborate with individuals to develop recovery goals, relapse prevention strategies, and actionable plans.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, skill-building, and emotional support that promotes self-efficacy and long-term wellness.
  • Serve as a liaison between individuals and care providers, helping clients navigate services and systems.
  • Maintain full confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 requirements.
  • Document interactions and support services in the electronic medical record in accordance with organizational protocols.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings and regular supervision with the Crisis Interventionist.
  • Meet clients in community settings, including recovery homes and other non-clinical environments.
  • Promote a culture of hope, empowerment, and respect within the team and client community.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and peer recovery training.
Qualifications
  • Personal lived experience with substance use and sustained recovery (minimum two years).
  • Accredited Recovery Coach or actively working toward certification.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed, recovery-centered, person-centered, and culturally responsive approaches to care.
  • Understanding and ability to adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 privacy requirements
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of or experience with local behavioral health organizations is preferred.
  • Ability to use, or learn to use, electronic medical record systems.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle required, as some work will occur in the community.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain healthy boundaries and professionalism.
  • Bilingual ability and experience working with diverse populations is a plus.
