DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
To provide accurate, professional medical interpretation for LEP (limited English Proficiency) patients at BMC and affiliated outpatient services.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
Two years preferred, interpreting for people with limited English proficiency, in offical or unofficial capacity. Can include medical, legal or business translation.
Education and Training:
High school diploma required, some college preferred.
Area Health Education Center Medical Interpreter Training Program course or equivalent.
License, Certification & Registration:
CMI or CHI certification preferred.
Other Requirements:
Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and ability to be on-call, understand role and boundaries of an interpreter. Strict adherence to confidentiality policy.
