Facility Manager – Ethos Energy
Ethos Energy is currently recruiting for a Facility Manager to provide management and leadership for a multi‑site portfolio including Pittsfield Generating Station in Pittsfield, MA;
Al Pierce Station in Wallingford, CT;
Waterbury in Waterbury, CT; and Forked River in NJ. The primary reporting location will be the Pittsfield Facility, a 3×1 combined cycle power station with GE 6B frames. AL Pierce is a SC GE 7EA, Waterbury is a SC GE LMS
100, and Forked River is a two‑unit SC GE 6B site. This position will be responsible for providing management direction and leadership to ensure the facility is operated in a safe, reliable, and economic manner consistent with the site O&M agreement, contracts, permits, and rules, regulations and written instructions from the facility owner. It reports directly to the Regional Operations Director for Ethos Energy and serves as the main interface to the owner’s representative of the facility.
Successful candidates must have 10+ years of experience in operations and maintenance leadership and management of a combined cycle power station. An active Massachusetts 1st Class Engineer License is required, as is a four‑year degree or commensurate experience (MBA a plus).
Job Responsibilities- Ensure the facility is operated safely and provide a safe work environment to minimize accidents and injuries.
- Oversee all environmental reporting and testing activities and ensure required environmental programs are properly implemented and that the facility maintains full compliance with all permits.
- Oversee all NERC and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and commercial commitments.
- Implement programs and activities that promote effective goal accomplishment, productivity, and morale.
- Optimize plant performance through appropriate utilization of manpower, equipment, supplies, and external support.
- Recruit, supervise, and manage facility staff to meet the goals and objectives of the facility and company; provide coaching, training, and development opportunities for the team to maintain appropriate skill sets. This includes implementing and scheduling training programs covering operations, maintenance, safety, and regulatory areas.
- Prepare the annual budget and facility operating plan.
- Responsible for purchasing, inventory, cost control, and cost management.
- Prepare monthly reports detailing significant plant activities and updates on the facility operating plan, including budget variance reports.
- Communicate effectively with site staff, management, facility owner, vendors, and outside agencies.
- Actively engage the owner to understand their needs and expectations and demonstrate effective management skills in meeting or exceeding these needs and expectations.
- Enforce and ensure compliance with the operations and maintenance agreement.
- Prepare and submit to the facility owner, in a timely manner, all reports and information required under the terms of the O&M agreement.
- Provide recommendations to the owner on plant upgrades and enhancements that would improve reliability, performance, safety, or environmental readiness, including cost-benefit analyses.
- Oversee the planning and implementation of maintenance and outage activities; provide outage reports to the owner summarizing significant events of the outage.
- Demonstrated track record of successful goal achievement.
- A thorough understanding of power plant operations, including operations & maintenance functions.
- Working knowledge of chemistry related to plant operations as well as environmental and water treatment programs and statutory regulations.
- Working knowledge of CEMS systems, air permits, and reporting related to plant operations and statutory regulations.
- Understanding of budgets, bid proposals, contracts, basic accounting principles, plant economics, and power pool operations.
- Knowledge of ISO‑NE and PJM markets.
- Ability to make competent decisions in emergency situations.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams, logic diagrams, and technical manuals.
