Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, is seeking a motivated and skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our Emergency Department (ED) team. As an NP in the ED, you will provide high-quality healthcare services to patients in urgent medical situations. Under the supervision of attending physicians, you will assess, diagnose, and develop treatment plans for patients in various emergency scenarios.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including medical history, physical examination, review of medications, and symptom identification.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as laboratory tests and imaging studies.
- Collaborate with physicians to formulate accurate diagnoses.
- Develop treatment plans, including prescriptions, therapeutic interventions, and patient education materials.
- Provide direct patient care, including suturing, wound care, splinting, and reduction of fractures/dislocations.
- Administer medications and perform procedures like IV access, cardiac monitoring, and airway management under supervision.
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to ensure streamlined patient care.
- Document patient encounters accurately and in compliance with standards.
- Stay updated with current research and best practices in emergency medicine.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring timely and appropriate care with compassion and respect.
