Assistant Grocery Manager

Salary: $15.75 – $26.50 per hour
Summary Provides fast, friendly, helpful and efficient service to all Price Chopper customers. Responsible for assisting with the operation of the grocery department. Assists the Grocery Manager with budget and the achievement of financial objectives of the department. Oversees clerks within the department and monitors merchandising, rotation and inventory levels to promote optimal sales opportunities.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Consistently work to provide fast, friendly, helpful and efficient customer service at all times.
- Smile, make eye contact and thank customers upon fulfilling their requests.
- Maintain a neat, clean and organized workstation, according to 5S standards, at all times.
- Assist the Grocery Manager with the day‑to‑day operation of the department, including product merchandising, pricing, stocking, signing, plan‑ograms, displays, rotation and inventory levels.
- Assist with ordering all merchandise and supplies for the Grocery department and meet transmission times. Store excess product in the back room or designated area.
- Maintain a high level of customer courtesy and service throughout the store.
- Provide front‑end services as business needs require.
- Ensure compliance with all company and state sanitation and pricing procedures and regulations within grocery operations.
- Unload warehouse merchandise from trucks.
- Assist in the training and development of all new associates in grocery operations.
- Perform duties at the discretion of the store manager.
- Control shrink through adherence to related policies and procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to manage others and demonstrate follow‑through to achieve desired results and objectives.
Education And Experience
- High School degree or equivalent.
- 6–12 months of related experience.
- Satisfactory performance reviews.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong communication skills.
Physical Requirements
- Equipment used: freight handling, manual handling of moving, light static weights, forklift movements.
