Job Summary
Plastic and reconstructive surgery of the periorbital and facial tissues, including eyelids and eyebrows, cheeks, orbit and lacrimal (tear) system. Eye plastic surgeons are ophthalmologists who have completed extensive postresidency training in this unique subspecialty. This is a highly specialized area of plastic surgery that focuses on the area around the eyes, forehead and midface. These include drooping eyelids (ptosis), eyelid malposition (entropion, ectropion) and eyelash abnormalities.
They treat tumors of the eyelids and orbit, trauma, congenital abnormalities, thyroid eye disease, tearing problems and blinking difficulties (blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm).
Geisinger is seeking a full-time board-certified/eligible, ASOPRS fellowship-trained specialist in Oculoplastics to fill a rewarding position in the Department of Ophthalmology at the new Healthplex in Pittston, Pennsylvania. Located near Scranton/ Wilkes Barre in Northeast PA, close to the Pocono Mountains. Geisinger Eye Institute: a driven, successful, and growing multi-specialty group integrating both optometric and ophthalmologic services. Aboutthis Position
- Modern clinic space with 30 exam rooms
- Three surgical facilities – an outpatient surgery center located in our clinic building and two at nearby Geisinger Hospitals
- Advanced technologies in diagnostics including HVF, OCT (Zeiss with Glaucoma Workplace and Heidelberg), FA, Fundus Camera, IOL Master, Immersion, Pentacam and Topography
- Treatment options, including SLT Laser, YAG Laser, Argon Laser, (Diode CPC). Support from a PA-C's and partnering with SCRIBES

- Interviews patients to obtain information such as symptoms, medical histories, and family histories. Performs and/or interprets diagnostic tests as needed.
- Diagnoses and designs a plan of treatment for injuries and/or illness. May prescribe or administer medications. Prepares, maintains, and reviews records that include patients' histories, examination findings, treatment plans, or outcomes.
