Job Overview

At CVS Health, we are focused on transforming health care for our customers and making our company a great place to work. Within our retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise. As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store.

You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately while providing caring service that exceeds patient expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
  • Adopt pharmacy workflow procedures for production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, and drop‑off to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
  • Show empathy and genuine care by creating personalized moments for patrons, offering immunizations, and resolving patient issues.
  • Complete basic inventory activities, including delivering medication, performing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing team, embracing a growth mindset and seeking opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
  • Maintain flexibility for scheduling and business needs, including traveling to other stores as required.
  • Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and professional standards. Follow CVS policies for patient safety and controlled substance dispensing.
  • Deliver additional patient health services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing where legal.
Required Qualifications
  • Must comply with any state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification. If a minimum age is not mandated, a minimum of 16 years and a high school diploma or equivalent are required.
  • State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
  • Regular, predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
  • Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
  • Maintain attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription information for patient safety.
  • Provide excellent customer service and team orientation: help others, respond to patient reactions, and maintain a friendly approach.
  • Effective communication: verbal, written, active listening, and clear instruction delivery.
  • Apply mathematical reasoning: calculate total tablets, day’s supply, and required container counts.
  • Resolve problems: identify challenging interactions and select appropriate solutions.
  • Physical demands: mobile, standing for extended periods, lifting up to 20 lbs, reaching, typing, manipulating small parts, and maintaining visual acuity.
  • Accept any additional tasks as directed by supervisors or managers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–3 years experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer‑service setting.
  • Ability to work across market locations, including the home store.
Work Hours

40 hours per week.

Pay Range

$16.00 – $24.00 per hour (base rate).

Benefits
  • Affordable medical plan options, 401(k) with company match, and employee stock purchase plan.
  • No‑cost wellness programs: screenings, tobacco cessation, weight management, confidential counseling, and financial coaching.
  • Paid time off, flexible schedules, family leave, dependent care resources, colleague assistance programs, tuition assistance, retiree medical access, and other benefits depending on eligibility.
