OverviewPrime Inc. is looking for a hard‑working, self‑motivated individual to repair damaged tires of trucks and examine defective tires and tubes returned by drivers to determine allowance due on replacement. This is an overnight position.
Shift ScheduleWednesday – Saturday, 6:00 pm – 6:00 am. Every other Wednesday off.
Responsibilities- Visually and tactually examine tires to determine if defect resulted from faulty construction or curing.
- Raise vehicle with hydraulic jack and unlatch wheels with a lug wrench.
- Locate puncture in tubeless tire by inserting adhesive material and expanding rubber plug into puncture.
- Separate tubed tire from wheel with a rubber mallet and metal bar or mechanical tire changer.
- Remove inner tube from tire and inspect tire casing for defects, such as holes and tears.
- Glue boot over rupture in tire casing.
- Buff defective area of inner tube, use a scraper, and patch tube with adhesive rubber patch or seal rubber patch to tube with hot vulcanizing plate.
- Measure tread depth to determine remaining tire life.
- Reassemble tire onto wheel, place wheel on balancing machine, and determine counterweights required to balance wheel.
- Add required counterweights onto rim of wheel.
- Clean tire sides and re‑mount onto vehicle.
- Prorate allowances based on tread wear, warranty provisions, and knowledge of tire characteristics.
- Explain basis for allowance to driver or distributor.
- Perform related work as required.
- Prior tire experience is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong work history.
- Flexible schedule with ability to work nights and weekends.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation.
- Candidate must pass a physical examination (APEX Physical Therapy for Springfield, Mo; general physical elsewhere).
Constant standing, handling, and forward reaching; frequent walking, head turning, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, hand control and power gripping. Must lift 105 lb, carry 83 lb, push and pull 115 lb. Steel‑toed footwear and safety glasses required in shop.
Working EnvironmentIndoor and outdoor work with exposure to varying weather conditions and chemical odors.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)Prime provides required PPE at no cost. Associates must fully adhere to all PPE policies; non‑compliance may result in disciplinary action up to termination.
Licensing/CertificationValid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation.
Miscellaneous RequirementsCandidate must pass a physical exam prior to commencing employment.
