Overview
Help an adult pass the GED/HiSET exam by becoming a tutor with the Placentia Library District. This volunteer role provides one-to-one tutoring to adults and may focus on Reading/Writing, Math, or other subject areas as needed.
Responsibilities- Provide one-to-one tutoring to adult learners to prepare for the GED/HiSET exam.
- Tutor at least once a week (1-2 hours per session).
- Commit to a minimum of 6 months or longer.
- Complete a training process before starting tutoring.
- Participate in meetings every 6-8 weeks to reinforce tutoring skills and learn program information.
- Regularly check email for communications.
- 18 or older
- Read, write, and speak English clearly
- Have basic computer skills
Tutoring will take place at the library. Basic learning materials are provided to both learners and tutors free of charge. The literacy staff will provide assistance and support throughout the program.
