Substitute Teacher – 2025/2026 (30‑Day Emergency Permit Assistance Needed)
Salary: $140.00–$235.00 Daily (depending on District/County Program).

The El Dorado County Office of Education fulfills the needs of 14 School Districts and 4 County Programs in Western El Dorado County. Qualified individuals are being sought to serve as substitute teachers when regular certificated staff are absent. This posting is for individuals who do not hold or have never held a valid California Teacher Credential or Emergency 30‑Day Substitute Permit. It is also for those holding out‑of‑state credentials.
The El Dorado County Office of Education will help you apply for your Emergency 30‑Day Substitute Permit. Please do not apply for this permit on your own as we are able to help expedite the process.
Applicants who have not retired or are not retired from El Dorado County and hold a valid Full California Credential or 30‑Day Emergency Substitute Permit: Please apply through the posting for Substitute Teacher – 2025/2026 (Full Credential/30‑Day Emergency Permit Acquired).

Essential Job Functions- Provides learning experiences and teaches the lessons of study prescribed by the classroom teacher or administrator.
- Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical, and emotional maturity.
- Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
- Provides appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school/district policies, goals and objectives.
- Follows school protocols and procedures.
Special Additional
Skills:
Individuals working in programs for students with severe handicaps must have the ability to lift students ranging in weight from infants to young adults and demonstrate a willingness to assist with self‑help skills as necessary.
