****** POSITION SUMMARY
** Under the supervision and direction of the Licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapist Assistant provides effective treatment and clinical activities in the provision of physical therapy that advance the patient toward their goals and support their highest desired state of health and well-being.
** POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
** Education/Licensure/Certification:
* Graduation from a Physical Therapist Assistant program with a minimum of an Associate’s degree and successful completion of clinical internship requirements.
* Current licensure or eligibility for licensure by the Board of Medical Examiners, State of California required.
* Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required.
Knowledge:
* One year of professional experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant preferred.
* Competent working knowledge of standard practice procedures and equipment used in delivering physical therapy in the inpatient and/or outpatient environment.
* Knowledge of and ability to follow infection control procedures in patient care settings.
Skills:
* Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize patient care needs. Communicate clearly and professionally with physical therapists and physician providers and work cooperatively with a diverse healthcare team.
* Commitment to providing compassionate care and advocacy for patients' functional independence and well-being.
* Ability to adapt quickly to the changing needs in healthcare, promote continuous improvement and speak up when patient safety is at risk.
* Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical documentation systems.
