Surveyor'sOffice
The El Dorado County Surveyor’s Office provides professional land surveying support to residents with a strong commitment to integrity and accountability. The office offers information on complex property ownership issues and ensures the timely review of parcel maps, subdivision maps, records of survey, lot line adjustments, certificates of compliance, street names and addresses, as well as the abandonment of public easements and irrevocable offers of dedication.
In addition, the Surveyor’s Office manages the County’s Geographic Information System (GIS), including its operation, maintenance, and enhancements. GIS is used to manage project and permitting databases, interpret location-based data, and create maps that deliver responsive service to the public, County departments, and outside agencies.
OpportunityThe Geographic Information Systems Analyst I/II has the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting the County’s GIS operations. Under general supervision or direction, this role performs professional, technical, and analytical GIS duties, including application design, modification, programming, scripting, spatial database design and management, and user support. The Analyst evaluates and participates in the functions necessary to implement and sustain the creation, maintenance, and use of GIS databases and applications, ensuring accurate and accessible geographic data for a variety of projects.
Responsibilities- Perform a variety of professional-level work, including modeling applications, spatial analysis, site selection, constraint modeling, maps, graphics, and related materials for internal and external clients in a variety of computing environments including desktop, cloud, and mobile.
- Consult with County departments and the Information Technologies Department, regarding GIS needs and requirements, including identifying, designing, and developing GIS applications, strategies, and procedures for the display, access, as well as the integration and access of geospatial data.
- Perform complex GIS database and graphical user interface research, design, analysis, and programming for desktop, web, and mobile applications.
- Develop spatially enabled applications using application templates, widgets, scripting languages, and development kits as appropriate.
- Develop new applications and queries to create and update map and facilitate analysis.
- Design and programs web-based applications for use by in-house County staff as well as internet applications for County and public GIS users; create and maintain webpages.
- Install, test, and implement vendor supplied modifications to existing software, function as a liaison with software vendors on user issues.

Ideal CandidateBring maps to life and make an impact! The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), typically demonstrated through an accredited program or equivalent experience, and a passion for leveraging GIS to solve spatial challenges.
This position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of tools and technologies, including mobile mapping systems, cloud-hosted applications, and ESRI platforms such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Enterprise. You’ll also gain experience developing web applications using JavaScript, Python, HTML5, and working with spatial databases like Oracle, Postgre
SQL, and SQL Server.
