Position Overview
Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing direct resident care within the scope of practice. The CNA plays an essential role in supporting residents with daily living activities, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment, and assisting the healthcare team in delivering quality care.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
- Support nutritional needs by helping with meals, feeding assistance, and hydration.
- Take and record vital signs, weights, and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly.
- Ensure resident comfort and safety through consistent rounding and compassionate interaction.
- Maintain cleanliness, orderliness, and infection control standards within resident rooms and care areas.
- Transport residents within the facility as needed for activities, therapy, or appointments.
- Assist in maintaining accurate documentation per facility policy.
- Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic, resident-centered care.
- Uphold dignity, privacy, and respect for all residents at all times.
Qualifications
- Active Connecticut Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
- Previous long-term care or rehabilitation facility experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a passion for caregiving.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented, resident-focused environment.
