TITLE:
Estimator
JOB OVERVIEW
:
We are seeking an Estimator to join our dynamic team at Midwest Sports and Turf Systems within the Project Management Department. Reporting to the Team Lead, you will be responsible for planning, directing, monitoring, and coordinating projects in the bidding phase for synthetic turf installations and related services.
- Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple bids simultaneously within a designated territory, establishing scope, schedule, and budget for each project.
- Lead pre‑bid activities, including procurement of necessary plans, specifications, and scope review, and request quotes from subcontractors.
- Request bid bonds and provide technical sales support where applicable.
- Perform material take‑offs and confirm synthetic turf pricing, ensuring accuracy and profitability.
- Pre‑qualify subcontractors and review general and supplemental conditions.
- Identify and mitigate project risks by making proactive recommendations to reduce potential challenges.
- Participate in bid preparation by completing scope reviews, building estimates, and setting profitability goals with guidance from the supervisor.
- Assist in managing and controlling the contract process, working closely with the Contract Administrator and clients.
- Chair weekly conference calls with Regional Sales representatives to track and discuss bid activities.
- Submit final bid packages, ensuring all required documentation, local rules, and permits are complete and delivered.
- Review and qualify sub‑trade proposals and related bid forms, including schedules, project management plans, narratives, scope clarifications, and unit pricing.
- Chair bid reviews to ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
- Update and track bid activity metrics, ensuring all bids are completed on time and in accordance with company goals.
- General construction knowledge, especially related to synthetic turf installation, materials, and methods.
- Intermediate understanding of key bid preparation principles, including quantity take‑off, sub‑trade procurement, pricing, and bid‑closing procedures.
- Knowledge of market conditions and business trends related to synthetic turf and sports field construction.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with stakeholders, sub‑trade partners, and suppliers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with an intermediate level of Excel proficiency.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple bids concurrently.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
