ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY PURPOSE Oncology registered dietitians (RDs) provide nutritional consultation to cancer patients across the continuum of the cancer experience including primary prevention, cancer treatment, secondary prevention, cancer recurrence and palliative care.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement nutrition screening system for cancer patients undergoing active treatment.
- Provide individualized nutrition assessments, counseling and nutrition recommendations based on patients' specific therapies and nutrition needs utilizing appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
- Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team patient‑care rounds for acute‑care cancer patients.
- Provide ongoing nutrition education for patients and in‑services for staff addressing nutrition topics and research pertinent to cancer patients.
- Collaborate with other health professionals as appropriate and develop nutrition education and resource materials as needed.
- Attending education programs to maintain status as effective and knowledgeable resource regarding patients’ nutrition needs.
- Consistently meet the goals set forth to maintain Duly Commission on Cancer related to field of expertise.
- Attendance in Cancer Tumor Board Conferences.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as an Oncology Dietitian.
- BS degree in Dietetics or related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential.
- Illinois State License.
- Specialized certification in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) preferred.
