COMPENSATION: $16.00/hour plus benefits (23/24 SY Starting Rate per CBA).
* Please note that the hourly rate of pay is inclusive of the mandatory 4.5% retirement contribution to the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF).

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions
- Ability to monitor students
- Effective communication skills
- Proven ability to work well in a team
- Ability to use a hand-held stop sign, flashlight, two-way radio
- Stamina to stand for long periods of time, mobility to escort students and visitors
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and with exposure to traffic
Desired Qualifications / Skills:
- Experience working with adolescents
- Experience working with at-risk youth
- Bilingual (Spanish)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Dean's Assistant promotes student safety and building security by maintaining a high degree of visibility in assigned areas and escorts students and/or visitors or other staff when assigned.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains a high degree of courtesy and respect for students, staff, and the public by:
Interacting in a professional and controlled manner at all timesMaintaining a personal code of respect for everyone in every encounterRemaining as neutral as possible in a disputeReporting all incidents to supervisors so that a record of what transpired is availableDressing in an appropriate uniform as required by the school districtWearing all identification that is required by the administration at all timesProvides emergency, fire drill, and/or evacuation procedures when necessary by:
Assisting injured or violated students or other persons in the school buildingProviding timely and appropriate emergency assistance toward injured or violated persons on the school campusReporting violated or destroyed property on the school campus in a timely wayEscorting and directing students during fire drill and other emergency procedure practicesAssisting any other individuals during emergency proceduresProvides a secure environment for students and staff by:
Encouraging students to maintain order at all timesEncouraging students to cooperate with staff at all timesAssisting other staff when needed and appropriate in crowd control activitiesAssisting law enforcement officers on the campus when necessaryAssists other staff in monitoring student behavior before, during, and after school activities by:
Monitoring regular & special needs busesAssisting school-age children to cross public streets safely by directing and/or regulating vehicular and pedestrian traffic at specified intersectionsWatching for suspicious persons and/or vehicles that may prey upon young childrenProviding a safe adult presence that young children may go to when they need assistance while going to and from schoolAssisting with special needs student activitiesInforming staff of late busesMonitoring after-school areas during activitiesNotifying emergency personnel or police during an after-school activity when necessaryNotifying the security team of violations or emergencies during after-school activitiesEnforces and observes all school district policies and state statutes at all times by:
Maintaining a professional demeanor in all situationsManaging disruptive student behavior in a professional manner at all timesReporting all incidents in a timely mannerReporting all incidents to supervisors for further action or law enforcement activityWriting all required reports, memos, or necessary communicationsUsing all communication devices in a professional and timely mannerBeing aware of all confidentiality issues for students, staff, or parentsOperating all security equipment in an appropriate wayMaintaining strict confidentiality regarding all school matters#J-18808-Ljbffr
