Utility Locator – Join USIC as a Utility Locator and become part of an award‑winning team dedicated to underground utility safety and innovation.

Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate underground utilities—including telecommunications, electric power, cable TV, gas, water, and sewer systems—within designated areas. The position is field‑based, requiring independent work using company‑provided vehicles and advanced ticket and claims management systems. Full‑time, daytime positions with a 48‑hour turnaround on many locates, including overtime, weekend, and on‑call shifts (including nights).

$21.00 – $33.00 per hour, depending on experience. New locators begin at $21.00 per hour; those with substantial prior locating experience can earn up to $33.00 per hour.

• Locate underground utilities, mark the location, document the locate, and photograph each locate.
• Search thoroughly for underground utilities in the designated area, accurately marking the location and completing required documentation.
• Work independently in the field; complete necessary reports and photo documentation accurately.

• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions; prior outdoor experience is a plus.
• Computer proficiency; ability to read, understand, and reference locate tickets, maps, and prints.
• Available to work overtime, weekends, and on‑call shifts as needed.
• Able to pass a drug screen (safety‑sensitive position).
• Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Able to work in confined spaces and lift up to 75 lbs.
• Color recognition for wiring identification.
• Strong communication skills with colleagues, customers, contractors, and homeowners.
