RN - Learning and Professional Development Specialist

Position Overview: Educates staff on various medical/health related topics including, but not limited to, CPR, AMAP, AMAP Recertification Training, Infection Control, First Aid & Seizure Training, Bloodborne Pathogen Education, PPD, OPWDD Diabetes, Tube Feeding, and Colostomy Training.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Facilitates training using diverse instructional techniques such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, and lectures.

Trains & certifies AMAP students.

Ensures all program staff receive necessary medical training, based on internal and QA audit outcomes.

Trains staff on Diabetes education, Tube Feeding, and Colostomy Bag training in compliance with OPWDD.

Administers and interprets Mantoux (PPD) testing.

Assists in developing and updating curricula and procedures in accordance with AHRC Nassau, Citizens Options Unlimited, Inc., and OPWDD regulations.

Conducts on-site, program-specific, field-based training as needed.

Works evenings and/or weekends as required; travels to program locations to facilitate onsite training.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

NYS Registered Nurse Licensure.
Experience in the field of Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability preferred.
Teaching experience strongly preferred.
Strong public speaking skills required.
Proficient in MS Office Suite and virtual platforms like Teams and Zoom.
Ability to work weekends as needed.
