The Medical Assistant works to assist clinicians in providing health care at clinic locations. A Medical Assistant serves the patient and all members of the health care team by gathering and maintaining the necessary medical information in a cheerful, friendly, personable manner. This role provides quality patient care and helps to establish rapport between the clinician and patient.

Location:

146 Manetto Hill Rd. Plainview NY 11803. Specialty:
Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus.

Hours:

37.5 hours per week, Monday – Thursday between 7:00am & 8:00pm, Friday between 8:00am & 5:00pm and up to one Saturday per month.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Obtains patient histories and vital signs and records accurately in the electronic medical record
  • Prepares patients for examination and treatment and documents chief complaints
  • Assists in other specialties as necessary
  • Retrieves laboratory and radiology test results and instructs patients regarding medications and treatment per clinician’s instructions
  • Stocks supplies and prepares exam rooms and instruments for examinations, testing, or minor surgeries
  • Potential for heavy phone usage. Responds to incoming phone calls and refers if necessary. Calls patients as necessary to follow up and/or schedule appointments
  • Obtain prior authorizations as necessary
  • Assist with other specialties within the suite as necessary
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Years of post‑high school education can be substituted/is equivalent to years of experience.

Required Qualifications
  • 1 years of healthcare office experience
  • Experience in a medical office setting
  • Experience with PC and Microsoft office
Preferred Qualifications
  • Medical Assistant certification
  • 1 years of experience working as a Medical Assistant performing front and clinical back‑office duties
  • Experience working with EPIC EMR software

The hourly pay for this role will range from $16.00 to $27.69 per hour based on full‑time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
