Program Manager – Living Life Tobacco Free
The Program Manager plans and directs services and activities of the statewide Living Life Tobacco Free program in collaboration with department leadership. The Program Manager is the lead contact with the CT Department of Public Health to provide required reports, meet deliverables and timelines, and facilitate the statewide black adult community coalition addressing tobacco use prevention and cessation. This position manages staff, ensures optimum performance and maintains procedures for operating efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Direct all aspects of the Living Life Tobacco Free program to meet project goals and funder expectations.
- Build and maintain a statewide coalition addressing tobacco prevention and cessation in the adult black community, develop educational and promotional materials, lead meetings, and supervise program staff to meet program goals.
- Act as liaison with the funder and key stakeholders, providing consistent communication between department leadership, program staff, and stakeholders.
- Create a data system to track program activities and provide accurate and timely reports.
- Maintain accountability for achieving program goals and staff compliance with organizational goals and deadlines.
- Develop and implement a communication plan to sustain effective coalitions addressing tobacco prevention and cessation in identified communities.
- Determine staffing requirements, hire and train new staff, and supervise staff according to overall policy, motivating the team and challenging them to develop as leaders.
- Conduct effective performance evaluations, set goals and objectives, monitor performance, and help team execute career development plans.
- Identify and suggest areas for improvement in internal processes and implement change to maximize operating efficiency.
- Manage all aspects of contracted prevention, recovery and training coordination services while maintaining positive relationships with program funders.
- Develop and monitor program budgets and implement a strategic plan for assigned prevention, recovery and training coordination services.
- Provide leadership in the ongoing design and growth of prevention, recovery and training coordination programs and maintain current knowledge of best practices and research related to recovery and prevention topics.
- BA/BS degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
- At least three years of experience in the field with a proven track record of progressively responsible experience in project management.
- Experience working with and a deep understanding of the needs, strengths, and cultural contexts of Black communities in relation to tobacco and smoking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, fostering collaboration across teams.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a focus on motivating and guiding diverse groups.
- Knowledge of tobacco prevention and cessation methods and best practices related to the project required.
- Expertise in social media, health promotion and marketing required.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license.
- Schedule flexibility including occasional weekends and evenings.
- Credential(s)
Required:
Current Tobacco Treatment Specialist and Freedom from Smoking training (or willingness to become certified).
