About the OpportunityPursuit Aerospace is seeking an experienced machinist to perform all aspects necessary for the machining process used in the manufacturing of company products.
The machinist will create assignments by defining objectives, priorities and deadlines, and assists fellow employees with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. Additional, specific instructions are given for new, difficult, or unusual assignments. The employee uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments. The machinist will review the work for technical adequacy and conformance with practice and policy.
Location: Plainville, Connecticut.
This role is onsite, 5 days a week Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities- Operates manual, CNC machines to perform completely and independently specific operations as outlined in the methods and process sheets. Learns machines for other processes and programs.
- Change, set and adjust precision tools as required.
- Load and delete programs in the computer.
- Make minor adjustments of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine.
- Grind own cutting tools and drills (other than special purpose tools).
- Consistently maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions.
- Check parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
- Perform routine maintenance checks, reporting improper machine function and/or check parts not being held to the proper dimensions.
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Follow all applicable safety rules and precautions.
- Other job‑related duties as assigned.
- 5 years relevant experience
- Able to read, write, and speak in standard English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Knowledge of shop geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organization.
- Have working knowledge of the machinability of metals.
- Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 7+ years relevant experience.
- Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment.
- Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Capable of being forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift certified
- Must be able to climb ladder, work on platforms, and climb stairs
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
- Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.
