Description
Job responsibilities- Provide relevant Commission veterinary-related services at the Commonwealth’s licensed racetrack facilities (Plainridge Park). Specifically, responsible for drawing blood and ensuring the chain of custody for post-race testing of racehorses.

- Current licensure with Massachusetts Board of Registration in Veterinary Medicine or willingness and ability to become licensed prior to March 2017.
- Previous experience working with horses.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time and work in outdoor conditions.
- Based on assignment, travel may be required; those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Class D Motor Vehicle Operator’s license or the equivalent from another state.
- Previous experience in the MGC racing division or in the racetrack industry.
- Previous similar experience in a local, state, or federal government agency setting.
Salary is hourly and commensurate with experience.
Successful candidates must pass an extensive background check conducted by the Massachusetts State Police, including a full credit check, CORI, fingerprinting, drug test, reference checks, review of IRS income tax transcripts for the last four years, and a Certificate of Good Standing from the Massachusetts Dept. of Revenue (DOR).
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) implements the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011) and oversees regulatory oversight of casino gaming, sports wagering, and horse racing. Under these laws, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses, one slots parlor license, provision of in-person and digital sports wagering, and live and simulcasting of horse racing in Massachusetts.
