This position requires safe winter driving skills, careful plow operation, consistent communication, and dependable attendance.

This is an on-call position throughout the winter season. Availability is required for all incoming snowstorms, including nights, overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays.

A take-home company plow truck will be provided to drivers who remain actively engaged in the Snow Program and readily available for all storms.Continued take-home vehicle privileges depend on participation, responsiveness, safe operation, and compliance with company vehicle policies.

  • Coordinate with equipment operators and sidewalk crews to complete property service.
  • Complete assigned return visits, refreeze treatments, and post-storm cleanup.
  • Obtain direction from the Territory Manager before changing route priorities or leaving assigned work incomplete.

Safe Driving & Vehicle Care

  • Adjust speed and following distance for snow, ice, reduced visibility, and changing road conditions.
  • Use safe backing practices and request assistance when visibility or site conditions require it.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck, plow, spreader, tires, lights, fluids, and safety equipment.
  • Keep windows, mirrors, cameras, lights, and license plates clear of snow and ice.
  • Maintain adequate fuel and report maintenance needs before they interrupt service.
  • Immediately report accidents, property damage, mechanical problems, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
  • Stop driving or operating when conditions, equipment problems, or fatigue make continued work unsafe, and notify the Territory Manager.
  • Avoid distracted driving. Safely park before using a phone or entering service information.

Communication & Documentation

  • Monitor storm communications and promptly acknowledge assignments and reporting instructions.
  • Notify the Territory Manager when beginning the route, experiencing delays, encountering unsafe conditions, or completing assigned service.
  • Accurately record time worked, site arrival and departure, completed services, material usage, and requested photographs using company systems.
  • Report blocked areas, inaccessible sites, existing property damage, customer concerns, and additional service needs.
  • Attend required preseason orientation, route reviews, vehicle familiarization, and safety training.
Take-Home Truck Responsibilities
