Senior Tax Associate – Public Accounting (S+H Search Exclusive)
Senior Tax Associate ready to step into a role with real ownership, client visibility, and a clear path toward advancement. Base Pay Range$90,000.00 per year – $ per year
What You’ll Be Doing Tax Compliance & Preparation- Prepare complex U.S. tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
- Review tax returns prepared by staff to provide feedback, accuracy checks, and tax‑saving recommendations.
- Manage engagement budgets and ensure deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards.
- Work directly with key client contacts to gather information, resolve tax issues, and offer process or business improvements.
- Build a meaningful understanding of each client’s operations, workflows, and objectives.
- Assist partners on proposals and business‑development calls to support firm growth.
- Supervise, train, and mentor staff and interns across multiple tax projects.
- Help elevate the team by providing coaching, technical guidance, and on‑the‑job training.
- Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and foreign tax considerations.
- Apply U.S. GAAP and tax compliance principles across client engagements.
- Identify issues proactively and offer solutions that support compliance and tax optimization.
- Overtime is expected during filing deadlines.
- Flexibility in work hours is needed to ensure accurate, timely client deliverables.
- Thriving in a deadline‑driven environment is essential.
- 3+ years of professional tax experience, ideally within public accounting.
- Strong tax accounting skills with a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP and federal/state tax compliance.
- Excellent project management abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Natural leadership skills with experience supervising and developing staff.
- Ability to juggle multiple engagements, communicate effectively, and deliver superior client service.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Professionalism, dependability, integrity, and a collaborative mindset.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting (or related field).
- Eligible to sit for the CPA exam; CPA pursuit encouraged.
