Senior Accountant

Job Description

Zips is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. This role will be responsible for managing complex accounting processes, supporting technical accounting areas, and ensuring a timely and accurate month-end close. The ideal candidate will have experience in ASC 842 (Leases), ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), and strong knowledge of GAAP-based financial reporting. Experience working in a multi-site retail environment is highly preferred.

• Perform monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparation and review of account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• work with leaders in the team on monthly and quarterly reporting requirements
• Oversee daily transactions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger postings, and bank reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with ASC 842 lease accounting and assist with related schedules, entries, and disclosures
• Support the implementation and maintenance of Fin Query (Lease Accounting Software)
• Apply ASC 606 revenue recognition principles to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of revenue streams
• Utilize Flo Qast for close management, reconciliations, and task tracking (experience a plus)
• Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and field teams to support accurate reporting across multiple sites
• Work with Accounting Manager to continually improve accounting procedures and internal controls
• Provide audit support and documentation to external auditors during annual financial audits
• Perform ad hoc analyses and special projects as needed
• Initiate and / or complete additional duties to support the company’s continued growth

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
• CPA or Master’s in Accounting or Finance preferred
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably including public accounting or multi-unit retail experience
• Experience with Fin Query or other lease accounting platforms preferred
• Experience using Flo Qast for reconciliations and close management a plus
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar ERP systems preferred
• Ability to work extended hours as necessary during peak periods
