Accounting Manager

Our client is a rapidly growing, privately held residential construction company seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to join its team in Plano, TX. This newly created role will play a key part in strengthening accounting processes, improving financial visibility, and supporting continued growth.

• Lead the monthly close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
• Oversee construction job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion accounting, and job profitability
• Partner with Project Managers and Operations to monitor labor, materials, subcontractors, change orders, and project margins
• Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and KPIs
• Monitor AR, AP, cash flow, collections, and working capital
• Identify margin risks, reporting issues, and opportunities for process improvement
• Maintain accurate cost codes, job setup, and financial data within the ERP
• Support audits and strengthen internal accounting controls and processes
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small accounting team
• Serve as a financial partner to operational and executive leadership

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
  , with a strong background in construction accounting
• Proven experience with job costing and WIP / percentage-of-completion accounting
• Experience with monthly close, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Microsoft Business Central, Dynamics AX, or Navision experience strongly preferred;
  Sage or similar construction ERP experience considered
• Strong Excel and analytical skills
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both accounting and operational teams
• CPA is a plus, but not required
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, growth‑oriented environment and taking a hands‑on approach
