The successful candidate may be offered a position in either the Administrative Assistant or Senior Administrative Assistant classification, depending on the selected candidate's qualifications. The current hiring salary range for the Administrative Assistant is $20.00 - $22.00 per hour; for the Senior Administrative Assistant, $23.00 - $25.00 per hour.

The City of Plano’s Engineering Department is seeking an Administrative Assistant with strong communication skills, a creative spark, and exceptional organization. Beyond core administrative duties, you’ll take the lead on department website updates and small creative projects—so experience with design tools or web content is a big plus.
There is flexibility for employees to work 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, or 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM, according to preference.
Administrative Assistant Responsibilities- Greets visitors; answers phones; responds to inquiries and concerns; provides general information.
- Composes, edits, and types correspondences, reports, and other documents; maintains filing system.
- Completes data entry into appropriate programs or systems; scans, files, and shreds documents.
- Makes travel arrangements for management staff as needed; maintains staff calendar.
- Maintains and orders office supplies.
- Receives, reviews, and distributes mail.
- May collect and process payments.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of: general office procedures; department policies and procedures; customer service etiquette.
- Skill in: communicating clearly both verbally and in writing; following directions; operating a personal computer and standard software.
- Education:
high school diploma or GED equivalent required. - Experience:
six (6) months of clerical experience preferred. - Any work‑related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

None. - Conditions of Employment: must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check.
- Composes, edits, and types correspondence, memoranda, reports, charts, and other documents using various word and data processing software.
- Compiles data and statistics to complete various reports.
- Receives, reviews, date stamps, prioritizes, and distributes incoming mail to appropriate personnel.
- Screens telephone calls and visitors; provides information in response to internal and external requests.
- Maintains appointment calendars; coordinates meeting and travel schedules; makes travel arrangements as needed.
- Performs various administrative tasks.
- May provide administrative support for Council appointed Boards or Commissions.
- Establishes and maintains departmental files; processes purchasing, personnel, and payroll related documents.
- Researches and compiles data for budgets; assists with budget processing and monitoring; orders office supplies; reconciles expenditures.
- Prepares and processes resolutions, ordinances, and agenda items for City Council meetings.
- Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential.
Minimum Qualifications
