Be a Host Family to a High School Exchange Student

Education Travel & Culture offers inbound and outbound opportunities for high school students worldwide to study in American high schools and experience life in a U.S. family. We partner with the U.S. Department of State to host J‑1 visa students from ages 14–18.

• Ensure a safe and nurturing home environment for the student
• Provide the student with a private room (shared with a similarly aged host sibling if applicable) and a bed
• Organize three meals per day
• Arrange transportation to and from school and extracurricular activities
• Offer love and support, helping the student adjust to life in the U.S.
• Explore cultural differences and share your own culture with the student
• Accept families with or without children

• Students bring their own spending money and health insurance
• Students have good English skills and are highly screened for the program
• Students are excited to meet their American host family and experience U.S. culture

• Learn a new culture through food, music, and language
• Share your culture with a student
• Add another member to your family
• Help a student receive an American education and a life‑changing experience
